Recipes With Good Fats

For decades we were under the belief that fat is bad for health. However, things are not always so clear-cut. There are various forms of fat and some of them are actually good for health. However, certain fats may play a role in causing cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and obesity. 

What is Good Fat? 
“Good” fat is predominantly comprised of healthy unsaturated fat. It is found it usually found in foods like olive oil, canola oil, avocados, and peanut oil. This healthy unsaturated fat can be further separated into monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.
Here are a couple of recipes with healthy fats

Recipe 1: Creamy Avocado Egg Salad


  • 1 avocado, medium sized, pitted and peeled
  • 3 boiled eggs 
  • 2 tablespoons light mayonnaise or Greek yogurt 
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime or lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon crushed cilantro parsley
  • Fresh pepper and salt to taste


  • Add avocados into a medium sized bowl and mash them with a spoon until chunky. 
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and blend them using a spoon until creamy.
  • Enjoy with toasted pita chips or serve on whole-grain toast
